Profilul HEM este un profil H cu aripi groase. Din gama europrofilelor acesta are cea mai mare rezistenta la greutate si eforturi.
In cadrul structurilor compuse din cadre metalice, grinzile sunt supuse unor eforturi de incovoiere si nu de torsiune. Printre sectiunile uzuale pentru astfel de grinzi se numara profilele HEM, conformate astfel incat sa reziste eforturilor de incovoiere dupa axa tare a secțiunii.
Comportarea stalpilor realizati din profile cu sectiunea H (HEA, HEB, HEM) depinde de urmatorii factori: lungimea stalpului , modul de aplicare a momentelor pe bara , legaturile laterale ( in cazul in care exista ) .
